VP Galvan on UO Global Expo interactive map from International Ducks on Vimeo.

The UO Global Studies Institute will install digital maps of the world, on large, touch-screen displays dispersed throughout the event venues. Information on countries and regions, including UO expertise, research, faculty, and students from these areas will be searchable. We hope that once ours events are over, we will be able to repurpose this wonderful web application for UO marketing, development, and public outreach.

With various themes and embedded media, the digital maps will provide a self-guided learning experience to engage visitors of all ages.

For example, a Projects icon in Mexico may showcase a UO anthropologist conducting fieldwork with indigenous social movements in Oaxaca, while an icon in Zimbabwe highlights the neuroscience lab research on increasing resistance of parasites to vaccines. The interactive map illustrates UO’s global excellence by showing the diversity of our campus population and the global impact of our top-tier, international research.
