UO Ambassadors are an elite group of University of Oregon students who volunteer their foreign language and cultural competency skills for the rare opportunity to assist athletes from around the world during the World Junior Championships at Hayward Field on July 2014.

Never before have the World Juniors been hosted in the United States. Never before have the World Juniors been hosted at a university. Never before have the World Juniors provided ambassadors to make teams feel welcomed and at home during these competitors’ greatest hours of achievement.

UO Ambassadors walk alongside athletes from around the world, become part of the team, and share in the excitement of international competition. You will receive event training, meals, and commemorative apparel from event host, Eugene’s legendary TrackTown USA. As well, UO provides specialized training and support to prepare you to present the global excellence of our University.

UO Ambassadors get incomparable access to the event and the competitors, gaining an inside look at international athletics. Your training begins with a in Spring term with a course that provides you with current and critical perspectives in global sports, looking at issues like international and local politics in corporate sports, and conflict resolution in competition.

UO Ambassadors gain valuable career skills in diplomacy, foreign service, hospitality, event coordination, and teamwork. Global Oregon provides you with a skilled coordinator who will not only provide 24-hour on-call support, but who will help you shape your experience into career preparation by guiding you toward resume-building language that will enhance your portfolio.
